This table build allowed me to work with some of the most beautiful wood I’ve ever seen. The ambrosia maple slab had so much color variation and amazing live edge that it truly is a statement piece. A semi-transparent base layer of frosted white was poured in the river at approximately 1/2” deep, then the rest of the river was filled with crystal clear epoxy. This technique allows for your color of choice in the river, while preserving your view of all the amazing burl on the live edge of the wood. The river was wet sanded and polished to a high sheen, further increasing the clarity.
The result is an eye catching table that can be a family heirloom for generations. The table top was paired with modern curved steel legs, perfectly complementing the top, while keeping the main focus on the wood.
